How to beat your sugar addiction an article by FSP Health

The only way to beat a sugar "addiction"...

The first step in stopping the sugar cravings and breaking the "addiction" is to make the decision to stop eating sugar completely for 5-7 days.

There you have it, the naked truth: In order to eliminate sugar cravings, you have to quit sugar cold turkey for a week. The reason you can't do this slowly or partially is: Sugar has the unique ability to inspire cravings which are refueled every time you give into them.

So, the only way to break the cycle is to stop feeding the fire.

The good news: Once you have broken the "addiction", you actually won't want to binge on sugar anymore. And good riddance to that...

You see, as you ween yourself off sugar, your tastes should change dramatically. You can go from having a sweet tooth - to finding the taste of sugar quite distasteful... And finding most sweet drinks and desserts too sweet for you. Consequently, limiting sugar won't be something you'll need to think about much in the future.

Now, to get this right, there are a few rules you'll need to put in place...

Rule # 1: Make sure you're eating smaller balanced meals so you don't confuse cravings for hunger... And your body is getting the nutrients it needs so it doesn't prompt the cravings because of a physiological lacking.

Rule # 2: Avoid hidden sugar sources during the fasting period, including sauces and condiments that contain sugar. And read ingredient labels to avoid anything ending in ose - including sucrose, fructose and glucose.

Rule # 3: Be prepared to experience intense cravings in the first two days of the fast. Understand it's temporary and try to find something to take your mind off your cravings - such as eating a celery stick, drinking a cup of decaf black coffee or a cup of mint tea without any sugar or sweetener in it, or eating an apple or orange.

Rule # 4: For 6-8 weeks after the sugar fast, actively restrict your melatonin and 5-HTPmelatonin and 5-HTPmelatonin and 5-HTPsugar intake. For example, limit sweets, cakes and fizzy drinks to special occasions. And, replace sugar in your coffee and tea with xylitol. After the 6-8 weeks, you should be able to easily eat a small slice of cake or a cupcake occasionally without experiencing any cravings afterwards.

Rule # 5: Make sure you're balancing your blood sugar well during this period so you don't experience huge dips in energy levels which tempt you to eat something sweet.

So there you have the best tricks to never having to think about sugar and sweets again. It's probably the single best thing you can do to improve your health - and your appearance.
